| Background: | Health and Safety at work belong to the thematic main fields of the workforce representation. Since the legal provisions on Health and Safety differ in the European states from each other, the employees in the individual company sites are exposed to different levels of risk and imperilment. Due to the competition pressure between sites a reduction resp. standstill of the health and safety level often impend. Within the EU this competition is more and more reduced through commun legal provisions, in the remaining European countries these provisions do not (yet) apply. If managers take account of this situation within their calculation of costs, the danger of unfavorable consequences on the workers health and safety situation exist. |
| Targets: | The participants receive important information about the current status of Health and Safety at work in the European Union, in the individual member states and in the sites of their company. Furthermore they learn about the possibilities of action and influence by the local workforce representation. Chances and limits of a common company-wide minimum standard in Health and Safety should be discussed and developed on the basis of the shared knowledge. |
